The UNESCO South Asia Seal of Excellence programme was held in New Delhi. A total of 121 craft products were received from India, out of which 27 outstanding products were selected as Indian nominations. 51 short listed items were received from SAARC countries – Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Thus a total of 78 products of 5 SAARC countries were placed before the International Jury, out of which 35 products of 29 individuals/groups were selected and the products were categorized as under:

The Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, Shri. Shankarsinh Vaghela had conferred the awards at Siri Fort Auditorium on 14th October 2004 amidst great galore.
